Rotterdam is important to the USA as military transports arrive here for the European scene. In may 1940 the city was subject to a German warcrime; civilian quarters were bombed to cause destruction and make victims. The generals decided so because the main force of the German army was operating in the Ardennes and Dutch resistance was sufficient at the Afsluitduik, at the Waterlinie, at the para droppings near The Hague and the river in Rotterdam could not be crossed. Berlin feared British reinforcements quite near to the important Ruhr-gebiet. The conflict between the Great Powers did not regard much the Dutch government and it was expected that the strong French army soon would push back the German agressor. Therefore it seemed wise not to have the city of Utrecht destroyed by bombing, another war crime.
Today a Russian bomb is aimed at Rotterdam-The Hague (Which will also erade the ICJ, disliked by Washington). If it happens Paris and London will hurry tot he negotiation tabel to save their cities. And Moscow too. So analysis reveals that The Netherlands are at big risk when staying in the NATO. The same for Belgium with Antwerp and better policy seems to form a neutral block of the Low Countries and Scandinavia plus Finland, but not the Baltic states where live many citizens of Russian origine. Discussion on the latter is necessary. Ultimately that origin and the language difference may not be more important than to which religion or not the citizens belong.
Presently it is only one russian person who is threatening. In already near future a more democratic Russia may join a new treaty: a Northern Alliance of Democratic Organisation. Which should insist on reduction of population of countries by splitting to less than 500 million souls in order not to frighten neighbours.
